Villa Faros

Villa Faros offers the perfect getaway on the unspoilt Greek island of Kythera.
Kythera remains something of a recluse among the Greek islands. It sits alone off the end of the Peloponnese at the junction of the Aegean and Ionian seas, isolated from the mainstream, remote and untouched.  A visit to this magical place feels like you are taking a trip back in time.

This sense of isolation creates a serene environment far from the mass tourism of many Greek islands. As a result, Kythera is a haven for those seeking an authentic Greek experience.

Villa Faros, located near the small village of Karavas in the north of Kythera, is private and quiet, yet it is just a short stroll to the local bakery.  It offers the ideal place from which to explore the beaches and villages of Kythera or just relax by the pool and enjoy the beautiful view of the Mediterranean Sea and the Peloponnese.  It is a short drive to the local restaurants or you can use the wood-fired outdoor oven or BBQ and dine poolside.

The home provides a comfortable and sophisticated standard of accommodation.  Designed and constructed in 2007, Villa Faros combines contemporary lines and angles with traditional Greek architecture. The result is a light and airy indoor/outdoor living space that takes advantage of the island’s stunning beauty.

The villa is situated on a 14,500 square metre terraced hillside, studded with ancient olive trees and grape vines.  There are also established fig trees, fruit trees, and numerous herbs available for picking in the garden as you need them.

Villa Faros offers breathtaking views from every room. On the main level of the Villa, the living/dining room and three of the bedrooms all have French doors opening onto the pool patio area. The master bedroom suite is located up a dramatically curved staircase with its own study, en-suite bathroom and verandah.  The Villa is beautifully decorated using a mix of traditional and modern design elements.

The Villa enjoys a northerly aspect and is situated to capture the spectacular views across the Laconian Gulf to the Isle of the Elafonissos, the Peloponnese mainland and north to the Cape Moudari lighthouse.

Villa Faros has four bedrooms, each with traditional Greek built-in beds including 3 queen-sized beds and one king.  A basement level bunk room provides further accommodation for up to eight children.
